Following the second set of league phase fixtures in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, UEFA.com takes a look at the players who stood out from a Fantasy point of view.
In a high-scoring round of games, 11 players recorded 14 or more points or more on Matchday 2 of #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation, Dortmund midfielder Karim Adeyemi leading the way.
GOALKEEPERS
After shutting out Young Boys on Matchday 1, Emiliano Martínez (€5.0m) recorded his second clean sheet of the league phase against Bayern München, making seven saves and gaining eight points in Aston Villa's 1-0 victory that ended the German side's 41-game unbeaten run at this stage of the competition.
Martínez's eight-point score was matched by only one other goalkeeper, Brest's Marco Bizot (€4.5m), whose six saves helped contribute to a clean sheet and a 4-0 win at Salzburg. Another victorious French club were LOSC Lille, who overcame holders Real Madrid with goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier (€4.5m) picking up seven points thanks to his clean sheet.
Chevalier was one of three goalkeepers to register seven points on Matchday 2, Yann Sommer (€5.5m) of Inter and Leverkusen's Lukas Hradecky (€5.0m) completing the trio. Both Sommer and Hradecky are still to concede in this season's Champions League, the former having shut out Manchester City and Crvena Zvezda while Hradecky has kept Feyenoord and Milan at bay.
DEFENDERS
Staying with Leverkusen, their full-backs remain highly lucrative for Fantasy managers, particularly Jeremie Frimpong (€5.6m) who recorded his third assist of the tournament against Milan. Trent Alexander-Arnold (€6.0m) matched Frimpong's eight-point score in Liverpool's 2-0 win against Bologna, as did the lesser-owned Lucas Digne (€4.5m), who registered eight ball recoveries for Aston Villa.
However, there were a number of significantly higher Fantasy scores among defenders. Chief among those was the 16-point-haul accumulated by Iñigo Martínez (€5.0m), which was unmatched in his position after he scored one goal and set another up in Barcelona's 5-0 triumph against Young Boys.
Alexander Bah (€5.0m) scored and recorded ten ball recoveries as Benfica beat Atlético de Madrid 4-0, finishing on 15 Fantasy points, while the low-priced Raoul Bellanova (€4.0m) gained 13 after getting Atalanta's final goal in their 3-0 victory over Shakhtar.
MIDFIELDERS
A standout performer on Matchday 2 was Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi (€7.0m). Listed as a midfielder, Fantasy managers who own the German international were celebrating early on as Adeyemi hit a hat-trick before half-time in Dortmund's emphatic defeat of Celtic. Despite being forced off through injury early in the second half, the 22-year-old had already done enough to be named Player of the Match and pick up 23 Fantasy points.
Although no other midfielder got close to Adeyemi's score, there were still some substantial Matchday 2 totals with five returning 14 points. Among them were Phil Foden (€9.0m), Mohamed Salah (€10.0m), Ademola Lookman (€6.5m) and Raphinha (€7.5m), who each reached that score thanks to a goal, an assist and the Player of the Match award.
The fifth midfielder however, PSV's Jerdy Schouten (€5.5m), picked up 14 points thanks to 11 ball recoveries alongside his goal from outside the box against Sporting CP. Schouten, who also claimed the Player of the Match award, has amassed 17 ball recoveries across his first two fixtures.
FORWARDS
Among the premium assets, Robert Lewandowski (€9.5m) was in the goals on Matchday 2. The Pole scored twice against Young Boys, extending his overall Champions League tally to 96, while Erling Haaland (€11.0m) opened his 2024/25 account at Slovan Bratislava.
Lewandowski's Matchday 2 score of ten points was eclipsed by three other forwards, all of whom have a cheaper price tag. Dušan Vlahović (€8.0m) and Abdallah Sima (€5.1m) recorded two goals for Juventus and Brest respectively, each earning 14 Fantasy points; both received Player of the Match awards, which increased their overall scores.
The top points total from a forward went to Inter's Mehdi Taremi (€7.0m), who set two goals up and scored one himself against Crvena Zvezda, his total increasing to 16 thanks to the Player of the Match award.
