Liverpool put the last remaining perfect record in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League on the line again as LOSC Lille come to Anfield on Matchday 7.

The six-time European champions have won all six games in this season's league phase, most recently 1-0 at Girona on Matchday 6, and became the first team to secure a knockout phase berth on Matchday 5 when they beat holders Real Madrid 2-0.

Lille have 13 points with four victories in their six fixtures and are unbeaten in the last five, winning the last two including a 3-2 home success against Sturm Graz on Matchday 6.

Form guide

Liverpool

Record vs French clubs: W18 D3 L11 F52 A30
Home record vs French clubs: W13 D1 L2

Liverpool were in the same Europa League group as Toulouse last season, winning 5-1 at home before a 2-3 away loss.

The Reds have won only four of their last ten games against French clubs (D2 L4) although those victories have all come in the last seven.

Liverpool have won their last four games against French teams at Anfield, scoring 13 goals; they had lost two of their previous three but have been victorious in 13 of their 16 home matches against French visitors overall.

This is Liverpool's 16th Champions League campaign; they have reached the final five times, lifting the trophy in 2005 and 2019.

The Merseyside club last featured in 2022/23, finishing second in their section behind Napoli before losing to Madrid in the round of 16.

Liverpool have won 13 of their last 18 Champions League matches at Anfield (D2 L3), beating Bologna (2-0), Bayer Leverkusen (4-0) and Real Madrid this season.

Jürgen Klopp's team took part in the Europa League in 2023/24, coming up short against eventual winners Atalanta in the last eight (0-3 h, 1-0 a).

Liverpool were third in last season's Premier League, Klopp's last season in charge after nine years at Anfield; Arne Slot came in from Feyenoord to replace the German.

LOSC Lille

Record vs English clubs: W4 D4 L10 F12 A22
Away record vs English clubs: W1 D1 L7

Lille's 2023/24 European season was ended by English opponents, Aston Villa prevailing 4-3 on penalties in France after each side had won 2-1 at home.

That second-leg success ended Lille's eight-match run without a win against English opponents (D1 L7), since their 2010 victory against Liverpool.

The defeat at Villa was Lille's sixth in succession in England, during which they conceded 13 goals and scored only two. A 2-0 victory at Villa in the 2002 UEFA Intertoto Cup semi-final second leg is Lille's only success in their nine games away to English clubs and one of only two in which they avoided defeat.

The last of Lille's seven Champions League group appearances came in 2021/22, when they won their section ahead of Salzburg, Sevilla and Wolfsburg but lost to holders Chelsea in the round of 16 (0-2 a, 1-2 h).

Those were their most recent games in the competition before this season's third qualifying round, when they beat Fenerbahçe 2-1 at home and drew 1-1 away after extra time. Lille also edged through a tight play-off against Slavia Praha (2-0 h, 1-2 a), Edon Zhegrova's late second-leg strike providing decisive.

This season's wins at Atlético (3-1) and Bologna (2-1) have made it four victories in Lille's last 12 away European games, losing four including 2-0 at Sporting CP this season.

Les Dogues – who replaced coach Paulo Fonseca with Bruno Génésio in the summer – were fourth in Ligue 1 in 2023/24, their highest finish since claiming their fourth league title in 2020/21.
