Who should be my Champions League Fantasy Football captain for Matchday 7?

With the UEFA Champions League resuming UEFA.com considers the merits of Mohamed Salah, Raphinha, Jude Bellingham and Denzel Dumfries for the Matchday 7 captaincy on #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.

Pick your Fantasy captain for Matchday 7
Great Mohamed Salah Champions League goals

TUESDAY 21 JANUARY

Mohamed Salah (€10.1m) vs LOSC Lille (H)

The only remaining unbeaten side, Liverpool are already guaranteed a knockout phase spot and can consolidate their position at the top of the league phase with a Matchday 7 victory at home to Lille. Unsurprisingly, Salah has been their most consistent attacking threat with his two goals and four assists helping him to 43 Fantasy points overall. In all competitions, the Egyptian has 21 club goals – just four fewer than he managed in the whole of the 2023/24 campaign.

Raphinha (€7.7m) vs Benfica (A)

Another compelling captaincy option on Tuesday is Raphinha, who has been the standout Fantasy performer for second-placed Barcelona. The Brazilian's six goals, three assists and two Player of the Match awards have resulted in 60 points, with no other player boasting a higher total. Barcelona have scored more league phase goals than any other team and have won their last five fixtures. The Blaugrana have been similarly potent on the domestic front in 2025, Raphinha managing two goals and an assist as they scored five against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final on 12 January.

Other options: Charles De Ketelaere (€5.7m), Serhou Guirassy (€7.8m), Robert Lewandowski (€9.6m)

Great Jude Bellingham Champions League goals

WEDNESDAY 22 JANUARY

Jude Bellingham (€9.0m) vs Salzburg (H)

Real Madrid return to Champions League action with a home fixture against a Salzburg side who have conceded nine goals in their three away league phase fixtures. Bellingham, one of the top Fantasy scorers last season, registered his first attacking return of this season's competition on Matchday 6 and has been producing attacking returns consistently in domestic action, his last six Liga appearances bringing five goals and three assists.

Denzel Dumfries (€5.5m) vs Sparta Praha (A)

Fantasy managers on the lookout for a differential captain may want to consider attacking full-back Dumfries, who offers multiple routes to points. From a clean sheet perspective, Inter have the best defensive record in the competition, conceding their first league phase goal in only the 90th minute on Matchday 6. Dumfries – who scored twice against Atalanta on 2 January – is averaging over seven points per Champions League start this season, although Fantasy bosses may be reluctant to captain a player who is not guaranteed to start.

Other options: Benjamin Šeško (€7.5m), Vinícius Júnior (€11.2m), Harry Kane (€10.7m)
