Stuttgart welcome Paris Saint-Germain on Matchday 8 of the UEFA Champions League as the league phase comes to a conclusion.
Both sides have ten points and are hoping to reach the knockout phase having won their last two fixtures. Stuttgart were 3-1 victors at Slovan Bratislava on Matchday 7, when Paris came from two down to beat Manchester City 4-2 at the Parc des Princes.
This is the teams' first meeting and Stuttgart's first game against a French club since 2007, while Paris have already lost in Germany this season.

Stuttgart have not played a Ligue 1 club since losing 0-2 at home and 2-4 away against Lyon in the 2007/08 group stage.
Stuttgart have won both home matches against French visitors in which they kept a clean sheet, against Lens in the 2000 UEFA Intertoto Cup third round second leg (1-0, 2-2 agg, won on away goals) and LOSC Lille in a 2002 UEFA Intertoto Cup final second leg (2-0, 2-1 agg). They drew 1-1 against Auxerre in a 2000 Intertoto Cup final (3-1 agg), the defeat by Lyon their first home loss to a French club.
This is Stuttgart's fourth appearance in the Champions League proper and a first since 2009/10. Then they were second in their section to reach the round of 16, where they were eliminated by holders Barcelona (1-1 h, 0-4 a).
Stuttgart won their first three home games in the Champions League proper but the 5-1 defeat of Young Boys on Matchday 6 this season was only their third in the subsequent 11 (D3 L5). They lost 0-2 to Atalanta on Matchday 4 having drawn 1-1 with Sparta Praha in the second round of games.
The German club have not taken part in European competition since 2013/14, when their Europa League campaign lasted two ties. They beat Botev Plovdiv on away goals in the third qualifying round (1-1 a, 0-0 h) but lost out to Rijeka in the play-offs (1-2 a, 2-2 h).
Stuttgart are without a win in nine home European matches (D6 L3), since a 2-0 defeat of Dinamo Moskva in the 2012/13 Europa League qualifying play-offs.
Sebastian Hoeneß guided Stuttgart to second place in the 2023/24 Bundesliga. It was the Swabians' highest league finish since winning the last of their five league titles in 2006/07.

Paris's 1-0 loss at Bayern München on Matchday 5 was their third in a row against a German club – all by the same scoreline – and fifth in the last seven (W1 D1).
Paris played four games against German clubs in 2023/24, all against Borussia Dortmund. They were 2-0 winners at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 1 and drew 1-1 in Germany on Matchday 6, but lost 1-0 both away and at home in the semi-finals.
Last season's win against Dortmund is Paris's only victory in eight matches against Bundesliga clubs (D2 L5).
A 3-2 win at Bayern in the 2020/21 quarter-final first leg is Paris's only victory in nine games in Germany (D2 L6).
This is Paris's 17th campaign in the Champions League proper, a new French record; they had previously been level with Lyon. They have featured every season since 2012/13, reaching the knockout stages in all 12 of those most recent campaigns.
Les Parisiens were second in their section behind Dortmund last season and beat Spanish pair Real Sociedad (4-1 aggregate) and Barcelona (6-4 aggregate) in the round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively, before losing to Dortmund in the last four.
The French side have lost in the last 16 in five of their last eight Champions League campaigns.
The Parisians have won 17 of their last 40 European matches (D8 L15) and have been victorious in 15 of their last 35 away Champions League fixtures (D6 L14) but have lost at Arsenal (0-2) and Bayern München (0-1) this season before a 3-0 win at Salzburg on Matchday 6.
Paris claimed their 12th French title, and tenth in the last 12 seasons, in 2023/24 and also lifted the Coupe de France final for the 15th time to complete Paris's fifth domestic double.

Stuttgart's four-match winning run was ended by Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Mainz.
The German club had equalled their biggest Bundesliga win of the season on 18 January with a 4-0 success at home to Freiburg.
The Swabians have won eight of their last ten, losing 0-1 against St. Pauli on 21 December – the first time they had failed to score at home in the Bundesliga under Sebastian Hoeneß in the 29th fixture.
Six days earlier they had prevailed 3-1 in Heidenheim and won their first three league games in 2025: 1-0 in Augsburg on 12 January and 2-1 against Leipzig three days later before the success against Freiburg.
Substitute Deniz Undav, who made his comeback after suffering a muscle injury in training on 20 November, was the match-winner in Augsburg and also scored against Freiburg.
Jacob Bruun Larsen returned to Stuttgart – where he played on loan in 2018 – on a permanent deal on 8 January and scored against Leipzig on his first start since his return.
Luca Raimund has been sidelined since 8 January with a thigh injury that needed surgery.
El Bilal Touré has been out since 19 November because of a broken metatarsal that also required an operation.

Paris' five-game winning run was ended by a 1-1 draw at home to Reims on Saturday, the first time they had dropped points in Ligue 1 since 6 December.
Ousmane Dembélé gave Paris the lead and has scored in six of his last seven appearances, eight goals in all. He has 11 Ligue 1 goals this season having managed three in 2023/24.
The French champions have won eight of their last ten games in all competitions.
The other exception was a 1-1 draw at Lens in the last 64 of the French Cup, a tie Paris won 4-3 on penalties.
On 15 January holder Paris were 4-2 winners at fifth-tier Espaly in the round of 32 thanks to late goals from Bradley Barcola and Gonçalo Ramos. They will visit Le Mans in the last 16.
Dembélé struck twice in a 2-1 defeat of St-Étienne on 12 January as Paris reached the halfway stage of the Ligue 1 season as the unbeaten leaders (W13 D4).
