As the UEFA Champions League enters the final matchday of the league phase, UEFA.com looks at some potential high-scoring captaincy candidates on #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation, with Viktor Gyökeres, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Florian Wirtz all contenders to produce significant returns.
Viktor Gyökeres (€7.9m) vs Bologna (H)
Despite not starting against Leipzig on Matchday 7, Gyökeres still rewarded his owners with a goal off the bench, making it six for the Champions League campaign. Four have come at home, including a hat-trick against Manchester City on Matchday 4, and Sporting CP face eliminated Bologna in Lisbon on Matchday 8. Gyökeres has scored club 34 goals in all competitions in 2024/25 and will look to add to that total as his side bid to prolong their Champions League campaign.
Erling Haaland (€11.0m) vs Club Brugge (H)
Having scored two goals in each of his last two home games in the league phase, Haaland – the highest-owned forward – will be the focus of many Fantasy managers for a source of points. The Norwegian, who has struck six times overall in this season's competition, has 23 goals in all competitions for Manchester City in 2024/25, including five in his last five appearances.
Florian Wirtz (€7.9m) vs Sparta Praha (H)
Given Wirtz's last attacking return in Europe came on Matchday 5, some Fantasy managers may be put off the idea of captaining the Leverkusen midfielder, even though he remains the second highest scorer across all positions with 61 points. Still the only player to pick up four Player of the Match awards, Wirtz has contributed five goals and an assist ahead of Leverkusen's concluding league phase fixture against Sparta Praha, who cannot progress any further.
Harry Kane (€10.7m) vs Slovan Bratislava (H)
Kane may have only found the net once in the Champions League since his four-goal showing against GNK Dinamo on Matchday 1 but the England international does have 22 goals in all competitions for Bayern. On Matchday 8 the Bundesliga leaders are at home to eliminated Slovan Bratislava, who have conceded more league phase goals than any other team, so Kane could prove to be a lucrative Fantasy captain should he start.
Other options: Serhou Guirassy (€8.0m), Kylian Mbappé (€10.9m), Julián Alvarez (€8.3m)
