Highlights: Juventus 0-2 Benfica

GOALKEEPERS

Anatoliy Trubin (€4.5m) shut out Juventus in Benfica's 2-0 victory in Turin, and his total of seven points was matched by Thibaut Courtois (€5.7m), who made five saves in Real Madrid's 3-0 win at Brest.

A seventh league phase clean sheet for Inter and Yann Sommer (€5.5m) led to the Swiss international's fourth six-point score this season. Sommer has now conceded just one goal across eight Champions League games in 2024/25.

The fourth goalkeeper to shut out the opposition on Matchday 8 was Leverkusen's Matěj Kovář (€4.3m), who has now played in three of the German champions' last four European fixtures, recording three clean sheets and 19 Fantasy points.

Highlights: Stuttgart 1-4 Paris

DEFENDERS

Three defenders – all full-backs – ended Matchday 8 with a double-figure Fantasy score. Achraf Hakimi (€5.5m) is owned by just over a quarter of managers, who were rewarded with an 11-point return in Paris Saint-Germain's 4-1 win at Stuttgart. Hakimi gained an assist and eight ball recoveries before being substituted prior to Stuttgart's consolation goal, ensuring the Moroccan retained his four-point clean sheet bonus.

Dortmund defender Ramy Bensebaini (€4.6m) also came away with 11 points after his goal and ten ball recoveries helped seal a 3-1 win at home to Shakhtar Donetsk. It could have been more, a late goal for the visitors denying Dortmund and Bensebaini a clean sheet.

Lucas Vázquez (€4.4m) completed the trio of defenders with ten points or more after he too registered an attacking return for Real Madrid, along with a clean sheet and four ball recoveries. Fantasy managers who invested in Leverkusen's full-backs Alejandro Grimaldo (€5.8m) and Jeremie Frimpong (€5.6m) were rewarded as both picked up an assist and nine points in a 2-0 victory against Sparta Praha.

Highlights: Aston Villa 4-2 Celtic

MIDFIELDERS

One of the most popular Fantasy selections throughout the league phase, Lamine Yamal (€7.4m) scored Barcelona's first goal and was named Player of the Match in a 2-2 draw with Atalanta in which the 17-year-old picked up his first double-figure points haul of the season.

However, Yamal's total of 13 was comfortably exceeded by a number of other players in his position, not least the two midfielders who scored hat-tricks on Matchday 8. That was Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers (€5.0m) and Ousmane Dembélé (€8.4m) of Paris, no other player managing to equal their 20-point scores across the final round of league phase matches.

The two top-performing players in any position coming into Matchday 8 continued to impress. Raphinha (€7.7m) recorded two more assists and eight points against Atalanta, boosting his overall Fantasy score to an unmatched 84 points, while a goal and fifth Player of the Match award for Florian Wirtz (€7.9m) gave him another 13 points.

Highlights: Inter 3-0 Monaco

FORWARDS

The third player to score a hat-trick was a forward, Lautaro Martínez (€9.4m) getting all three goals in Inter's 3-0 win over Monaco. That earned him the Player of the Match award and 17 points – more than any other player in his position.

Another in-form striker is Benfica's Vangelis Pavlidis (€6.5m), who followed his hat-trick and 14 points against Barcelona on Matchday 7 with a goal, assist, a second Player of the Match award and 13 points against Juventus. Atlético de Madrid's Antoine Griezmann (€9.1m) exceeded that score, recording a double against Salzburg and earning 14 points after also being named Player of the Match.

Serhou Guirassy (€8.0m) maintained his record of gaining at least one attacking return in all of Dortmund's European games this season. His two goals against Shakhtar on Matchday 8 took him level with Robert Lewandowski as the top scorer in the 2024/25 Champions League on nine overall.
