Champions League Fantasy Football: Top performers on Matchday 9

Ousmane Dembélé and Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Vitinha were the top scorers overall with Serhou Guirassy and Vinícius Júnior also among the players to register substantial points returns.

As the UEFA Champions League knockout phase play-offs kicked off Ousmane Dembélé registered the joint-highest Fantasy score for the second matchday running, this time alongside Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Vitinha. Gregor Kobel, Timon Wellenreuther, Federico Gatti, Dayot Upamecano, Serhou Guirassy and Vinícius Júnior, meanwhile, each scored the most points in their respective positions.

Highlights: Feyenoord 1-0 Milan

GOALKEEPERS

Of the 16 goalkeepers who featured on Matchday 9, four kept clean sheets as each of their respective sides secured victory and a crucial lead heading into the second legs. Gregor Kobel (€4.9m) made six saves to help Borussia Dortmund to a 3-0 win at Sporting CP.

Kobel's six saves and eight Fantasy points was matched by Timon Wellenreuther (€4.5m), who recorded his first Champions League clean sheet of the campaign as Feyenoord secured a 1-0 victory over Milan.

Benfica's Anatoliy Trubin (€4.5m) extended his overall Fantasy score this season to 39 points after picking up his fourth clean sheet of the competition and second seven-point score in as many matchdays, while Gianluigi Donnarumma (€5.8m) justified his premium price tag with four saves and seven points against Brest in a 3-0 win for Paris Saint-Germain.

DEFENDERS

Although plenty of Fantasy attention was on Minjae Kim heading into Matchday 9, it was fellow Bayern München centre-back Dayot Upamecano (€5.0m) who shone from a Fantasy perspective. The French international picked up 11 points following an assist, 11 ball recoveries and the Player of the Match award against Celtic.

Upamecano was one of three defenders who reached ten points or more on Matchday 9. His 11-point score was matched by Federico Gatti (€5.0m), who also won Player of the Match after his assist and nine ball recoveries helped Juventus to a 2-1 first-leg victory against PSV.

Experienced centre-back Nicolas Otamendi (€5.0m) came into Matchday 9 having scored in consecutive league games for Benfica and his clean sheet and 14 ball recoveries were enough to pick up ten points at Monaco. Meanwhile, Paris' Achraf Hakimi (€5.5m) repaid the faith of his 39% Fantasy ownership, his assist and clean sheet earning nine points.

MIDFIELDERS

Ousmane Dembélé (€8.4m) continued his sensational goalscoring form on Matchday 9 as he made it six in his last three Champions League games with two at Brest, giving him 39 Fantasy points from those three fixtures.

Dembélé's 13-point score on Matchday 9 was matched by just one player across all positions – his Paris team-mate Vitinha (€7.0m). The Portuguese international also claimed the Player of the Match award after opening the scoring with a penalty and also registering six ball recoveries.

The top three Fantasy points scorers on Matchday 9 were midfielders, Feyenoord's Igor Paixão (€6.7m) completing the trio after scoring the goal that defeated Milan, also earning him Player of the Match. More highly-owned midfield assets such as Jude Bellingham (€9.0m) and Michael Olise (€6.7m) were also on the scoresheet for Real Madrid and Bayern respectively.

Highlights: Sporting CP 0-3 Dortmund

FORWARDS

There is still no stopping Serhou Guirassy (€8.0m), who maintained his record of an attacking return in every Champions League fixture this season for Dortmund with a goal and assist at Sporting CP, earning him 11 points. Guirassy now has ten Champions League goals in 2024/25, taking him above Robert Lewandowski at the top of the scoring charts.

Vinícius Júnior (€11.2m) continued to reward his ownership with a third consecutive double-figure scorer. His two late assists helped Real Madrid to a dramatic 3-2 win away at Manchester City and led to 11 Fantasy points after the Brazilian was named Player of the Match for the third time this season.

Another premium forward, Erling Haaland (€11.0m) also recorded two attacking returns in the same fixture, giving him ten Fantasy points. Harry Kane (€10.7m) and Kylian Mbappé (€10.9m) both managed a goal and six points each, while Vangelis Pavlidis (€6.5m) accumulated nine points, being selected as Player of the Match following his winner for Benfica at Monaco.
