The champions of Azerbaijan and Denmark meet on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League as Qarabağ face Copenhagen in Baku.
Last match
This is the sides' fifth meeting, Copenhagen having won three of the previous four (L1).
The Danish club won 6-0 at home and 4-0 away against Qarabağ in the 1998/99 Cup Winners' Cup qualifying round.
Qarabağ were 1-0 winners in the home first leg of the sides' 2017/18 Champions League qualifying play-off tie and ultimately progressed on away goals after a 1-2 second-leg loss in Denmark.
Those four fixtures are both sides' only previous contests against a club from their opponents' country.
This is Qarabağ's second participation in the Champions League proper, following their group stage appearance in 2017/18, when they were fourth in a section including Chelsea, Atlético de Madrid and Roma, both their points coming from draws against the Spanish side. They are the only team from Azerbaijan to feature.
This is Qarabağ's 12th successive season in a UEFA group stage/league phase. They lost seven of their eight games (W1) in last season's league phase of the Europa League to finish in 36th place.
Copenhagen's last appearance in the Champions League proper came in 2023/24, their second successive campaign. Overall, this is their seventh group stage/league phase participation, more than any other Danish team.
In 2024/25, the Danish club reached the UEFA Conference League round of 16, where they were beaten 1-3 on aggregate by eventual champions Chelsea.
