Goalkeepers

As with the three premium strikers, the goalkeepers selected are towards the more expensive end of the price range. Tuesday's pick is Yann Sommer (€6.0m), who managed a clean sheet and six Fantasy points on Matchday 1 and whose Inter side are at home to Slavia Praha; the Swiss international has two clean sheets from four appearances in all competitions this season.

On Wednesday, Arsenal and David Raya (€5.5m) are at home to Olympiacos, the Spaniard looking to add to his four shut-outs in seven games this season. Raya also picked up six points on Matchday 1 thanks to a clean sheet in the Gunners' win at Athletic Club.

Defenders

Inter and Arsenal are also represented among the five defenders given their form and fixture. Stefan De Vrij (€4.5m) presents a cheap way into the Italian side's back line for the home game with Slavia, while Jurriën Timber (€5.0m) is an equally appealing Arsenal signing given his threat at both ends of the field.

Tottenham won and kept a clean sheet at Matchday 2 opponents Bodø/Glimt in last season's UEFA Europa League semi-finals, attacking full-back Pedro Porro (€5.0m) the selection for their return to Norway. Ramy Bensebaini (€4.5m) picked up seven points on Matchday 1 thanks to a goal at Juventus, his Borussia Dortmund side at home to Athletic Club this week, while Kevin Mac Allister (€4.5m) was also on target in the opening round of games, his Union Saint-Gilloise side playing their first home Champions League game against Newcastle.

Midfielders

A trio of Inter selections is completed by Hakan Çalhanoğlu (€7.0m), the Turkish midfielder having provided the assists for both goals in the Nerazzurri's opening win at Ajax, helping him to ten Fantasy points. Michael Olise (€8.0m) and Rodrygo (€8.5m) are selected with their Bayern München and Real Madrid teams at debutants Pafos and Kairat Almaty respectively; Olise provided an assist on Matchday 1, when Rodrygo won a penalty.

Hans Vanaken (€5.0m) was among the other players to deliver attacking returns in the opening set of league phase games, picking up 14 points with a goal and an assist as Club Brugge dismantled Monaco; the Belgian side now return to Atalanta, where they scored three times last season. The midfield is completed by Lucas Bergvall (€5.0m) of Spurs, who produced nine points on Matchday 1.

Forwards

Some careful budgeting elsewhere means there is scope to include three of the most expensive players on the game up front. Harry Kane (€10.5m) and Kylian Mbappé (€10.5m) both scored twice and were named Player of the Match in the first league phase games, the Bayern forward picking up 15 Fantasy points – two more than his Real Madrid counterpart.

Erling Haaland (€10.5m) also found the net on Matchday 1 and has scored in his last seven games for club and country – 13 goals in total. Manchester City's next opponents Monaco are without a clean sheet this season and have conceded nine goals in their last three games in all competitions.
