As the UEFA Champions League reaches Matchday 4, UEFA.com considers a selection of captaincy candidates for managers on #UCLfantasy, presented by PlayStation, with Scott McTominay, Gabriel Martinelli, Erling Haaland and Denzel Dumfries all having high points potential.
TUESDAY 4 NOVEMBER
Gabriel Martinelli (€7.7m) vs Slavia Praha (A)
One of five teams on maximum points after three games, Arsenal have a number of Fantasy players who have captaincy potential against Slavia Praha. Martinelli has excelled in the competition this season with three goals, an assist and a Player of the Match award. After coming off the bench to make a telling contribution against Athletic Club on Matchday 1, Martinelli has started both subsequent Champions League fixtures, and with Arsenal playing in one of the early kick-offs on Tuesday, Fantasy managers will know whether the Brazilian is in the starting line-up again.
Scott McTominay (€7.0m) vs Frankfurt (H)
Although Napoli lost 2-6 at PSV Eindhoven on Matchday 3, McTominay scored both of their goals and recorded 12 points for his Fantasy ownership, which stands at just 3% at the time of writing. Next up for the Italian champions is a home fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt, who have suffered consecutive 5-1 defeats in the Champions League. McTominay was also on target in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Inter in Serie A, making it five goals for club and country in 2025/26, and represents a tempting differential captain option on Matchday 4.
Other options: Nuno Mendes (€6.2m), Harry Kane (€10.7m), Julián Alvarez (€9.0m)
WEDNESDAY 5 NOVEMBER
Erling Haaland (€10.6m) vs Dortmund (H)
Always a popular choice for the Fantasy captaincy, Haaland has scored in all three of Manchester City's league phase fixtures, four goals in total. The Norwegian has been in devastating form this season with 24 goals in 15 games for club and country, and his career Champions League record stands at 53 in just 51 appearances. City's next league phase game pits them against Dortmund, Haaland's former club against whom he scored during the 2022/23 group stage.
Denzel Dumfries (€6.1m) vs Kairat Almaty (H)
For those looking to captain a defender on Matchday 4, Dumfries is perhaps the most obvious candidate. The Inter wing-back has 37 Fantasy points – the most across all positions – and has returned 30 in his last two appearances. Inter are yet to concede in this season's competition, and next host Kairat Almaty, who have scored just once in their first three fixtures. With two league phase goals already this campaign, Dumfries offers significant points potential at both ends of the pitch.
Other options: Igor Paixão (€6.2m), Marcus Rashford (€7.3m), Anthony Gordon (€7.1m)
