Napoli have the chance to move level on points in the league phase with Qarabağ when they welcome the Azerbaijan champions on UEFA Champions League Matchday 5.

Last match

This is the teams' first fixture and Napoli's first against a team from Azerbaijan.

Qarabağ are without a win in their previous six games against Italian teams (D1 L5) and have lost all three away from home. Their last fixtures came in their only previous campaign in the Champions League proper, losing 1-2 at home and 0-1 away against Roma in the 2017/18 group stage.

Napoli

This is Napoli's ninth campaign in the Champions League proper; their best performance came in 2022/23, when they reached the quarter-finals.

The Naples club were not involved in UEFA competition in 2024/25 – the first time they had missed out since 2009/10.

Qarabağ

This is Qarabağ's second participation in the Champions League proper, following their group stage appearance in 2017/18, when they were fourth in a section including Chelsea, Atlético de Madrid and Roma, both their points coming from draws against the Spanish side. They are the only team from Azerbaijan to feature.

This is Qarabağ's 12th successive season in a UEFA group stage/league phase. They lost seven of their eight games (W1) in last season's UEFA Europa League to finish in 36th place in the league phase.

Key stats

A 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 4 means Napoli have lost only one of their last 19 home Champions League games (W11 D7).

However, the Italian side have won only one of their last six matches in the competition proper (D2 L3); they have four points from their four games this season.

Napoli have never failed to score in successive Champions League games; they have now found the net in 30 of their 32 home matches in the competition proper.

Qarabağ have lost only two of their ten European games this season (W7 D1), drawing 2-2 at home to Chelsea on Matchday 4. The Horsemen have won three of the five at home (D1 L1).

Qarabağ beat Benfica (3-2 a) and Copenhagen (2-0 h) in their first two games in this season's league phase; they had never previously won a match in the Champions League proper.

The Baku club have scored in all ten of their European games this season, hitting 18 goals in the last seven.

Leandro Andrade has scored in five of Qarabağ's last seven European matches.
