We look at four potential captains as managers prepare for Matchday 7 of #UCLfantasy, presented by PlayStation.
TUESDAY 20 JANUARY
Kylian Mbappé (€10.9m) vs Monaco (H)
Looking to consolidate their position in the top eight of the league phase, on Matchday 7 Real Madrid entertain Monaco, the club where Mbappé began his professional club career. The top scorer in this season's Champions League campaign with nine goals in five appearances – four of those strikes coming in his last European outing against Olympiacos – Mbappé struck 11 times against Monaco in 14 appearances as a Paris Saint-Germain player. Now back in action after injury, the Frenchman is set to be a popular captaincy choice once again on Matchday 7.
Erling Haaland (€10.7m) vs Bodø/Glimt (A)
Second only to Mbappé for Champions League goals this season, Haaland is understandably one of the higher-owned forwards among Fantasy managers and has an incredible record of 55 goals in 54 games in the competition. Up next for Manchester City is a trip to Haaland's native Norway, with Bodø/Glimt welcoming Pep Guardiola's men with Haaland, who scored against Bodø/Glimt for Molde in 2018, out to add to his 39 goals for club and country in 2025/26.
Other options: Rayan Cherki (€6.9m), Alejandro Grimaldo (€6.1m), Scott McTominay (€7.1m)
WEDNESDAY 21 JANUARY
Michael Olise (€8.2m) vs Union Saint-Gilloise (H)
While many Fantasy managers may lean towards Harry Kane when it comes to picking a captain on Wednesday, his Bayern München team-mate Olise is also a viable candidate. The Frenchman has produced consistent goal involvements in the league phase, recording at least one attacking return in four of Bayern's six fixtures, and scored twice for the German champions in their 8-1 win at home to Wolfsburg on 11 January to make it five goals and six assists in his last five Bundesliga starts.
Raphinha (€9.3m) vs Slavia Praha (A)
Last season's top Fantasy scorer, Raphinha is yet to deliver an attacking return in this season's league phase due to injury restricting him to just two starts. However, the Barcelona midfielder has now returned to full fitness and goals and assists have duly followed. The Brazilian played a key role in Barcelona's recent Spanish Super Cup success, scoring twice against both Athletic Club and Real Madrid, and it seems only a matter of time before those performances translate to the Champions League.
Other options: Harry Kane (€10.8m), Anthony Gordon (€7.1m), Kenan Yıldız (€6.7m)
