Champions League qualifying play-offs second leg: Viking vs GNK Dinamo facts

After a stirring first-leg comeback, Viking will aim to complete the task of reaching the UEFA Champions League proper for the first time as competition regulars GNK Dinamo come to Norway for the second leg with their qualifying play-off level at 2-2.

Previous meetings

A quick-fire double from Dion Beljo (6) and Mateo Lisica (10) gave hosts Dinamo an early lead in the first leg on 18 August but Peter Christiansen (26) and Zlatko Tripić (39) restored parity before half-time to set up a decisive meeting in Stavanger.

That was the teams' first fixture, and Viking's first match against a Croatian team.

Dinamo have won all their four two-legged ties against Norwegian opponents, the most recent two in the Champions League qualifying play-offs. They beat Rosenborg 3-1 on aggregate in 2019/20 (2-0 h, 1-1 a) and Bodø/Glimt 4-2 in 2022/23 (0-1 a, 4-1 h aet).

GNK Dinamo

Indeed, a 2-1 home win against Baník Ostrava in the 1976/77 first round first leg – a tie they lost 2-3 on aggregate – is Viking's only victory in the competition. They have lost 11 of their 15 matches.
