Meet the new ICONs
It's the final day of the 2011/12 season, and Manchester City need a win to secure their first league title in 44 years. With the game level in the fourth minute of added time, Sergio Agüero pounces to score the decisive goal as the final whistle looms.
Agüero's explosive acceleration and ice-cold finishing defined an era at Man City. He became the club's all-time leading scorer, hitting 260 goals in all competitions (including 36 of his 41 in the Champions League) and collecting multiple league titles and domestic cups along the way. On the international stage, he was part of the Argentina squad that lifted the Copa América in 2021.
The Argentinian marksman leads the line as an ICON in EA SPORTS FC™ 27.
Portugal celebrate a 1-0 extra-time victory against France in the UEFA EURO 2016 final to claim their first major title. At the heart of it all is Pepe, delivering a commanding Player of the Match performance in defence.
Pepe built his reputation on fierce competitiveness and uncompromising defending. At Real Madrid, he was a cornerstone of a formidable back line, winning three Champions League titles and multiple domestic honours. His leadership and resilience proved just as vital for Portugal, culminating in European glory in 2016.
The Portuguese legend brings leadership, aggression and a cabinet full of trophies to the ICON Class of '27.
October 1980. The ball finds Bayern München forward Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the box, surrounded by Bochum defenders. Three juggles and an acrobatic volleyed lob later, the Bundesliga has a Goal of the Year. One of many spectacular strikes, it showcased the technical brilliance and finishing that Rummenigge brings to the ICON line-up in EA SPORTS FC™ 27.
Throughout his career, Rummenigge blended elegance with ruthless efficiency. A defining figure for Bayern, he won two European Cups before helping the club claim back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 1979/80 and 1980/81. Twice a Ballon d'Or winner, his intelligent movement and clinical finishing made him one of Europe's most feared forwards. With Germany, he won the European Championship in 1980 and reached two World Cup finals.
Raphaël Varane rises highest to aim another header towards goal. His glancing effort opens the scoring in France's 2-0 quarter-final victory over Uruguay, helping propel his nation towards World Cup glory in 2018.
Varane showed exceptional composure from the moment he broke through at Real Madrid. The elegant centre-back amassed four Champions League titles and multiple domestic honours in Spain, pairing calm distribution with assured defending at the highest level. On the international stage, he played every minute of France's triumphant 2018 campaign as Les Bleus were crowned world champions.
As an ICON, Varane brings composure, elegance and a glittering collection of silverware to any back line in EA SPORTS FC™ 27.
