Article body
The aim of UCL Fantasy, presented by PlayStation, is to score as highly as possible – and managers should be aware of the potential for players in every position on the pitch to pick up points to boost their totals.
To illustrate that, the scoring system can be separated into two sections.
Attacking returns
The most obvious route to points is by scoring goals, though each position scores differently. Forwards get four points for a goal, midfielders get five and defenders – and goalkeepers – get six. There's also one extra point for all players for goals scored from outside the penalty area.
Assists give every player three points, regardless of their position.
Winning a penalty is rewarded with two points.
Defensive returns
The most common source of returns for goalkeepers and defenders is a clean sheet, which brings each of them four points. Midfielders also benefit from a clean sheet; they get one point.
Goalkeepers also score one extra point for every three saves made – and five points for saving a penalty.
Across all positions, ball recoveries are a crucial source of extra points. Each player gets one point for every three ball recoveries made.
Appearance returns
Every player gets one appearance point – and a further one point if they play 60 minutes.
Player of the Match
UEFA issues an official Player of the Match award, presented by PlayStation, after every Champions League game. The UEFA Technical Observer Group selects the Player of the Match, giving the player in question three extra Fantasy points.
Points deducted
Players can also lose points, however. Goalkeepers and defenders lose one point for every two goals conceded, while all players get deducted one point for conceding a penalty and lose two points for missing a penalty.
An own goal results in a loss of two Fantasy points.
On the disciplinary front, a yellow card means one point deducted, while a red results in three points deducted.
