Having become UEFA Champions League regulars in recent seasons, LOSC Lille kick off their latest campaign against a Real Betis team making only their second appearance in the competition and a first for 21 years.

Previous meetings

This is the teams' first meeting.

Lille have lost only one of their nine home matches against Spanish teams (W3 D5), their most recent encounter a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid on Matchday 2 of the 2024/25 Champions League.

A 2-1 loss at Celta on Matchday 7 of last season's UEFA Europa League ended Lille's three-game winning run against Spanish opponents – though those are their only victories in their last 12 fixtures (D3 L6).

Betis have lost only two of their last seven matches against French teams (D3 L2), beating Lyon 2-0 at home on Matchday 4 of last season's Europa League.

However, the Spanish side have never won in France, where their record is D2 L3.
