Coach: Cesc Fàbregas

As a playmaking midfielder, Fàbregas made 104 Champions League appearances for Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea, and 110 appearances for the all-conquering Spain side that won two EUROs and a World Cup between 2008 and 2012. In his first coaching job, the 39-year-old has led Como into Europe for the first time.

Key player: Nico Paz

Creative midfielder Nico Paz has been a revelation since arriving at Como in the summer of 2024, registering six league goals and nine assists in his debut season – Como's first back in Serie A since 2003 – before following that up with 12 goals and seven set-ups last term. The Argentinian international came through the academies of Tenerife and Real Madrid, making three senior Champions League appearances with the latter before seeking pastures new in August 2024.

Big summer signing: Trevoh Chalobah

Chalobah made the move from Chelsea this off-season following 151 appearances for his boyhood club since his debut 2021, including 17 appearances in the Champions League. A strong all-around centre-back, who has also played at right-back, the 27-year-old's experience is likely to be called upon plenty in this season's league phase.

One to watch: Jacobo Ramón

Another who made the switch from Real Madrid to Como, Spanish centre-back Jacobo Ramón started 32 matches in Serie A last season. A towering figure at nearly two metres tall, Ramón blends standout aerial ability with excellent technical quality. Away from football, his idol is tennis legend Rafael Nadal: "What made him strong was his mentality and his head. I would like to learn those things."

Como's 2025/26 season

A 4-1 win against Cremonese in their final game of the season confirmed that Como would finish in one of Serie A's Champions League positions, a huge achievement for a side that had only been promoted back to the top tier in 2024.

What is Como's best Champions League finish?

Not only is this Como's first season in the Champions League, it is their first in any UEFA club competition. Their fourth-placed finish in Serie A last season was the highest in their domestic league history.
