Coach: Gian Piero Gasperini

A midfielder who spent the best seasons of his career at Palermo and Pescara, Gasperini coached Juventus’ youth teams before taking sole command at Crotone, Genoa, Inter (briefly) and Palermo. His reputation grew at Atalanta from 2016 to 2025, where he earned his side regular Champions League football and won the 2023/24 Europa League. He joined Roma in 2025.

Meet the teams

Key player: Manu Koné

The 25-year-old is already a regular in a France national team packed with midfield talent. Hamstring injuries restricted his impact at the end of last season but the former Toulouse and Mönchengladbach man remains the driving force for Gasperini’s side.

Classic Roma Champions League goals

Big summer signing: Donyell Malen

Roma turned the Dutch international’s loan deal into a permanent move, complete with a four-year contract, after an outstanding second half to the 2025/26 season. The 27-year-old scored 14 goals in 18 Serie A games after his mid-season switch from Aston Villa, his best league haul since his early days at PSV.

Where to watch Roma's games

One to watch: Niccolò Pisilli

A 2023 Under-19 EURO winner with Italy, Pisilli’s promise has long been clear, but never more so than last season at Roma. A two-goal outing against Stuttgart, his first-ever Roma double, was one of eight Europa League appearances and the young midfielder made 13 starts in Serie A, up from 11 the season prior.
