Lille and Galatasaray both suffered defeat by three-goal margins in their last UEFA Champions League fixture as they meet in northern France on Matchday 3 looking for their first points of the 2026/27 league phase.

Previous meetings

This is the first fixture between the sides.

Lille are unbeaten in all six matches against Turkish opposition (W2 D4), winning two of their three at home (D1). Their most recent fixtures pitted them against Fenerbahçe in the 2024/25 third qualifying round (2-1 h, 1-1 a aet).

Galatasaray have won only two of their last 11 matches against French teams (D4 L5), going down 0-1 at Monaco in their last fixture, on Matchday 6 last season.

That means Galatasaray are without a win in their last six away matches in France (D2 L4), since a 1-0 victory at Nantes in the 2001/02 first group stage.

Form guide

Lille

This is Lille's ninth appearance in the Champions League and a fourth in eight seasons. The last two have continued into the round of 16, most recently in 2024/25 when they lost 2-3 on aggregate against Borussia Dortmund.

Les Dogues also reached the same stage of the 2025/26 Europa League, going out 0-3 on aggregate against eventual champions Aston Villa. They had finished 18th in the league phase before beating Crvena Zvezda 2-1 on aggregate in the knockout phase play-offs.

Galatasaray

This is Galatasaray's 19th participation in the Champions League proper – more than every other Turkish club combined – but only a third in seven seasons.

In 2025/26, Gala ended a run of five successive group stage eliminations by finishing 20th in the league phase (W3 D1 L4), beating Juventus in the knockout phase play-offs (5-2 h, 2-3 a aet) before losing 1-4 on aggregate to Liverpool in the last 16. It was the first time they had reached the knockout rounds since 2013/14.
