Porto will again look to get off the mark in the UEFA Champions League as Napoli visit Portugal on Matchday 4, the Italian side having registered their first points of the season in their most recent fixture.

Previous meetings

The sides have played two two-legged European ties, each winning one on aggregate. Napoli won 1-0 both home and away in the 1974/75 UEFA Cup second round before Porto triumphed 3-2 on aggregate in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League round of 16 (1-0 h, 2-2 a).

Porto's last games against an Italian club ended in a 3-4 aggregate defeat by Roma in the 2024/25 Europa League knockout phase play-offs (1-1 h, 2-3 a), making it six games without a win against Serie A sides (D3 L3).

The Dragons have lost only four of their 20 home matches against Italian clubs (W8 D8) and are unbeaten in six (W4 D2) since a 0-2 defeat by Juventus in the 2016/17 Champions League round of 16.

Napoli's five-game winning run against Portuguese clubs was ended by a 0-2 loss at Benfica on Matchday 6 last season.

The Italian side have won five of their six Champions League matches against Portuguese clubs (L1), all in the group stage/league phase.
