Andone's European ambition

Ioan Andone has extended his contract as coach of Romanian double winners FC Dinamo Bucuresti.

Staying put
Despite several offers from abroad, the 44-year-old, who led the club to the league and cup double in the 2003/04 season, has stayed put and is focused on European success. Dinamo will enter the next edition of the UEFA Champions League in the second qualifying round.

'More difficult'
"Last season was fantastic, but 2004/05 will be much more difficult. I want to gain access to the later stages of the European club competitions," he said, after signing the new contract by fax in Antalya, Turkey, where he is on holiday.

Rapid signing
In other news in Romania, AFC Rapid Bucuresti have signed central defender Marius Constantin on a five-year contract. The 19-year-old, formerly with FC Brasov, is an Under-21 international and made his senior debut for Romania recently against Republic of Ireland.
