Kaká's return to AC Milan has been soured by the news he has been ruled out of at least their UEFA Champions League opener with a thigh strain.
The 31-year-old Brazil midfielder, who rejoined Milan from Real Madrid CF a fortnight ago, was injured in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Torino FC. Examinations confirmed his absence for Wednesday's Group H curtain-raiser against Celtic FC – and possibly longer.
"Tests have confirmed damage to the adductor muscle in his left thigh," read a Milan statement. "In about ten days the player will undergo further tests to ascertain the real extent of the injury."
Stephan El Shaarawy and Riccardo Montolivo suffered similar injuries on Friday and Saturday respectively, while Andrea Poli is a doubt for the Celtic home game after taking a knock against Torino. Ignazio Abate, Mattia De Sciglio, Matías Silvestre, Daniele Bonera and Giampaolo Pazzini were already set to be sidelined.
