Josep Guardiola, the former FC Barcelona captain, has agreed a move to the Italian club AS Roma.

Two-year contract
Guardiola, whose one season with Brescia Calcio last year was disrupted by a four-month ban for nandrolone use, is to sign a two-year contract in the coming week with Roma, who have qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League. “The deal is completed with Roma, Guardiola will play for them and will sign the contract at the end of next week,” the 30-year-old's agent said.

Full recovery
The Spanish international missed the FIFA World Cup after picking up a knee injury during the closing stages of the Serie A season but he appears to have made a full recovery having passed his Roma medical on 18 June. "Guardiola passed his medical and is a Roma player in every way," Roma's coach Fabio Capello said.
