  • Klopp: "We are on fire, to be honest"
  • Conceição: "No one wanted Liverpool"

Reporter's view (Matthew Howarth, UEFA.com): Liverpool regained top spot in the Premier League with victory at Southampton on Friday, but Jürgen Klopp is adamant the Reds will not let the domestic title race affect their European ambitions, telling reporters his side will "try everything" to win the competition. Klopp's team cannot afford any slip-ups against in-form Porto, who are eager to make amends for last season's 5-0 aggregate defeat in the last 16.

Key battle

Jordan Henderson v Danilo: This is one of three key battles picked out by Liverpool's website following Henderson's superb substitute cameo against Southampton. With James Milner likely deployed as a replacement left-back, Henderson's industry in central midfield will be especially important if the Reds are to take charge of possession as they would expect to at Anfield.

Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool coach

It's warm outside, spring is coming and we are in two big competitions, so it's fine. We have not finished the season, we have not finished our development. We want to write a few proper things on the pages of that season book. We are on fire, to be honest.

In training you can see we are in an extremely good moment, but so are other teams as well, and we all play for a lot. You will see tomorrow that Porto also really want to go through so it will be a tough one but that's how it should be.

Sérgio Conceição, Porto coach

Liverpool are on a very high level. Every week they have a very high level of competition. With us it's not like that, no disrespect to the other teams [in Portugal].

Recognising the power of the opponent, our absences and that we are in the first leg of the quarter-finals, we have to be smart and creative in terms of strategy. No one wanted to draw Liverpool but we are all ambitious.
