On familiar ground
Both players return to the Bulgarian Cup holders after spells with other clubs. Borimirov, a 33-year-old midfield player, has spent the past eight and a half seasons in Germany with TSV 1860 München. He rejoins Levski on a free transfer. Borimirov, who has won 62 international caps, first played for Levski between 1990 and 1995, winning three league titles and three cups.
Squad strengthened
Markov, a 31-year-old former international defender, left Levski last summer for PFC Lokomotiv Sofia after three seasons with the club. The pair will link up with recent signings Stefan Donchev, Liubomir Liubenov and Kostadin Vidolov as Levski prepare for the second half of the Bulgarian season and a UEFA Cup third-round tie against Liverpool FC.
