Olive, 33, had been without a club since cancelling his contract with Napoli Soccer 2004 last summer. "After 16 years in the game, it was tough to live without a club these last six months," he said, having signed a contract until the summer. "I have trained alone in this period but I think I'm in good physical condition." During his Serie A career, Olive has also played for US Lecce, AC Perugia and Bologna FC, scoring 13 goals in 171 games.
No Europe
Parma face VfB Stuttgart in the return leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie next week but Olive will be ineligible as he was not included in their squad list by 1 February. However, he will be available for Parma's fight against relegation with the club currently 18th in Italy's top flight.
