The 20-year-old, who has penned a reported three-year deal, said: "I know many great clubs wanted me, such as PSV [Eindhoven], but when Sampdoria showed their interest in me I thought it was unbelievable and I accepted their offer immediately. I have no words to describe how happy I am now." Fornaroli scored 14 times in 26 league matches for the Montevideo club last term, his first full season as a professional.
