Women's Champions League final: Barcelona vs OL Lyonnes facts

Two of the most decorated European teams meet at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo as Barcelona face OL Lyonnes in the UEFA Women's Champions League final for the fourth time, with Barça seeking their fourth title and OL their ninth.

Barcelona have enjoyed an unbeaten campaign (W8 D2) on their way to a record sixth consecutive final. They defeated Bayern München 5-3 on aggregate in the semi-finals (1-1 a, 4-2 h), having overcome domestic rivals Real Madrid 12-2 on aggregate in the last eight (6-2 a, 6-0 h); they were top of the league phase standings with a record of five wins and one draw.

OL recovered from a first-leg defeat to beat holders Arsenal 4-3 on aggregate in the last four (1-2 a, 3-1 h) and reach a record-extending 12th final . They also responded to an away first-leg loss in their quarter-final against Wolfsburg (0-1 a, 4-0 h aet) having finished second on 16 points in their unbeaten league phase campaign (W5 D1).

Last match

OL have won four of the five encounters between the teams, although Barça triumphed in their last contest – 2-0 in the 2024 final with Aitana Bonmatí and Alexia Putellas both on target in Bilbao, Barça's most recent European title.

The previous two finals – 2019 and 2022 – both went the way of OL, who won 4-1 in Budapest and 3-1 in Turin respectively. Ada Hegerberg scored in both matches, her 2019 hat-trick one of only two in the history of UEFA Women's Cup/Women's Champions League finals. Putellas also struck in the 2022 encounter – the last time OL lifted the trophy.

Their first meetings came in the 2017/18 quarter-finals. OL won 2-1 in France – Hegerberg scoring for the hosts and Patricia Guijarro for the visitors – before a 1-0 victory in Spain completed a 3-1 aggregate success for the French side on their way to a fifth European crown.

Barça were winless in their first eight fixtures against French teams (D2 L6) but have won three of the subsequent four (L1), most recently 2-0 at Paris FC on Matchday 6 this season – the first time they had faced French opposition in a group stage/league phase.

OL's 2024 final defeat by Barcelona is their only loss in ten matches against Spanish teams, having won the other nine. They have scored 27 and conceded just eight goals across those fixtures and most recently defeated Atlético de Madrid 4-0 at home on Matchday 6 of this season's league phase.

Barcelona

This is Barcelona's 14th Women's Champions League campaign – all in succession. Three-time winners and the only Spanish champions, they are featuring in a record sixth consecutive final, surpassing the previous record of five they shared with OL Lyonnes. It is their seventh final overall, all in the last eight editions, with only OL having made more (12 including 2025/26).

Their successes came in the span of four seasons, beating Chelsea in 2021 (4-0), Wolfsburg in 2023 (3-2) and OL in 2024 (2-0).

Runners-up to Arsenal in last season's final in Lisbon (0-1) in what was their 100th European game, Barca finished top of Group D on 15 points before navigating their way past Wolfsburg in the last eight and Chelsea in the semi-finals (4-1 h, 4-1 a).

OL Lyonnes

OL have been crowned champions of Europe on eight occasions from 11 finals – both competition records. Their last success came when they defeated Barcelona 3-1 in the 2022 final in Turin.

OL have therefore reached a record‑extending 12th UEFA Women's Cup/Women's Champions League final.

The French outfit finished with a 100% record in last season's group stage ahead of Wolfsburg, Roma and Galatasaray. They eased past Bayern in the quarter-finals (2-0 a, 4-1 h) before a semi-final elimination at the hands of eventual winners Arsenal (2-1 a, 1-4 h).
