After recording their first league phase victory on Matchday 2, HB Køge welcome holders Barcelona to Denmark for the first UEFA Women's Champions League meeting between the teams for almost five years.
Last match
The only previous meetings between the sides came in the 2021/22 group stage, when Barcelona won 2-0 in Denmark on Matchday 2 before completing their 100% record in Group C with a 5-0 Matchday 6 victory in Spain.
Those are HB Køge's only previous encounters with Spanish opponents.
Barcelona have never lost against a Danish team, having drawn twice with Brøndby in the 2013/14 round of 32 (0-0 h, 2-2 a) and beaten Fortuna Hjørring in both legs of a round of 16 tie in 2020/21 (4-0 h, 5-0 a). They have scored 18 goals in their six matches against Danish clubs, conceded just two.
HB Køge's only previous group stage/league phase appearance in the Women's Champions League came in 2021/22, when they lost all six games in a section containing Barcelona, Arsenal and Hoffenheim.
The Danish outfit defeated Riga (4-1) and Hearts (2-1) in this season's second qualifying round before a 2-1 aggregate success against PSV Eindhoven (1-0 a, 1-1 h) booked their place in the league phase.
This is Barcelona's 15th Women's Champions League campaign, all in succession. Four-time winners after reclaiming the trophy last season with a 4-0 triumph against OL Lyonnes in Oslo, they have reached the final in seven of the past eight editions as well as six in succession – a competition record. Their other successes came in the span of four seasons, beating Chelsea in 2021 (4-0), Wolfsburg in 2023 (3-2) and OL in 2024 (2-0).
On their way to the final last season, the Spanish champions topped the inaugural league phase with 16 points from a possible 18, before defeating Spanish rivals Real Madrid 12-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals (6-2 a, 6-0 h) and Bayern München 5-3 in the last four (1-1 a, 4-2 h).
Key stats
