Serghey Baran's solitary strike earned FC Agro Chisinau a 1-0 away victory against FC Politechnica Chisinau today.
Second win
The win was only Agro's second of the season, to preserve their fifth place spot after seven games. Another team to put distance between themselves and the bottom were FC Nistru Otaci, who scored a last-gasp goal to earn a 3-2 home victory yesterday over bottom club FC Hincesti.
Dacia run ends
Also on Sunday, newcomers FC Dacia Chisinau saw their incredible start to the season come to a crashing halt. After keeping clean sheets in their first six games, Dacia succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of defending champions FC Sheriff Tiraspol.
Perfect preparation
In another of yesterday's games, FC Zimbru Chisinau routed FC Tiraspol 5-2, the perfect preparation for Thursday's UEFA Cup return against Real Betis Balompié of Spain. Boris Cebotari, Ghejghe Rohat, Eugen Bastina, Vladimir Shishelov and Viorel Frunza scored for Zimbru, while Moldova Under-21 striker Serghey Dadu recorded a double for Tiraspol to take the lead in the top scorers' table with seven goals.
