Beye lengthens Marseille stay

Olympique de Marseille have extended central defender Habib Beye's contract for two years until June 2008.

Growing reputation
The 27-year-old Senegalese international has established himself as one of Ligue 1's top defenders since joining the club he supported as a boy from RC Strasbourg in August 2003. He has been a dependable figure at the back, despite an unsettling spell that has seen three coaches at the helm in the last two seasons.

Intertoto Cup campaign
Beye missed just one league game last term as Marseille finished fifth, earning an Intertoto Cup campaign that will begin in the third round against Switzerland's BSC Young Boys, Iceland's Skála Ítróttarfelag or Tampere United of Finland.

Duo depart
Marseille have also confirmed the €4m departure of Brazilian anchorman Eduardo Costa to RCD Espanyol and announced that 21-year-old midfielder Therry Racon has signed a four-year contract with Ligue 2 side EA Guingamp after a season's loan at FC Lorient.
