Hasan Sas stays with Galatasaray

Galatasaray SK's Hasan Sas has ended speculation about his future and decided to stay with the Istanbul giants.

'Sudden decision'
However the Turkish club and player have not revealed the length of the new deal. "We had given him permission to speak with other clubs but our aim was to keep him in the squad," Galatasaray vice-president Ali Dürüst said. "Hasan's sudden decision today really surprised us."

'The right decision for me'
"This was the right decision for me," Hasan said. "The last eight months have been very difficult for me. The media created rumours about me. My heart was always with Galatasaray. I have received several offers from domestic and foreign clubs. But Galatasaray's offer was the most lucrative among them."

Top form
Hasan was on his top form during the 2002 FIFA World Cup when he helped Turkey finish third. Since then the 26-year-old's form suffered as he was linked with moves to several clubs including Internazionale FC, AS Monaco FC and Fenerbahçe SK. Galatasaray will enter next season's Champions League in the third qualifying round after finishing second in the Turkish Superleague.
