Vonlanthen heads to PSV

PSV Eindhoven have signed the promising Switzerland Under-21 striker Johann Vonlanthen.

Deal clinched
The 17-year-old joins from Swiss side BSC Young Boys where he played two first-team matches, scoring once. PSV had already clinched the deal for the youth international in November last year, but as he is a non-European Union player he was only allowed to officially join the Eredivisie club without a special work permit when he turned 18.

Law change
However, EU law recently changed so Vonlanthen can now join PSV immediately instead of in January next year as was originally intended. "Now the law has changed, we decided to have him come over here immediately," said PSV technical director Frank Arnesen. "It is better for his development we think. He really is a huge talent, and we prefer to have him close with us."

International goals
Vonlanthen, who was born in Colombia to a Colombian mother and Swiss father has played nine times for the Swiss Under-21 side, scoring four goals.
