Fenerbahçe have been trying to sign the 27-year-old midfield player for six months and a deal in the winter break only fell through for personal reasons. However, on Thursday night terms were finally agreed and he is expected to arrive in Istanbul next Tuesday.
Champions League campaign
Alex, who has been capped 34 times, joins compatriots Márcio Nobre, Marco Aurelio and Fabio Luciano in the Fenerbahçe squad. The club, who also signed forward Murat Hacioglu from Diyarbakirspor two days ago, begin their 2004/05 UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage.
