Bech in the big time at Malmö

Malmö FF have signed striker Jesper Bech to compensate for the loss of Markus Rosenberg and Niklas Skoog.

Delighted to sign
The Swedish champions have signed 23-year-old Danish forward Jesper Bech from FC København on a three-and-a-half year contract. "I'm happy I've been given this opportunity and I will do my utmost to show the fans that the club have signed the right man," Bech said.

Domestic champions
Malmö will play in the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League, starting in the second qualifying round, after winning the 2004 Allsvenskan title. Things are not going so well in the 2005 domestic championship as they lost 3-1 at IF Elfsborg yesterday and trail leaders Djurgårdens IF by four points.

Larsen in demand
The club agreed to let the 22-year-old Rosenberg move to AFC Ajax at the end of June, only then to see fellow forward Skoog, 31, suffer a serious knee injury. Elsewhere, Djurgården are struggling to hold on to 23-year-old striking sensation Sören Larsen who has scored eight goals in ten league games and also struck twice on his competitive debut for Denmark in the 3-1 FIFA World Cup victory against Albania on 8 June.
