SV Werder Bremen have moved to bolster their strike force with the acquisition of Austria striker Marko Arnautovic from Dutch champions FC Twente for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract at the Weserstadion and joins after spending this season on loan at European champions FC Internazionale Milano. Arnautovic was used three times by Inter in Serie A as they retained their title, after scoring 12 goals in 44 top-flight appearances over four seasons at Twente.

Werder chairman Klaus Allofs said: "We are pleased about the positive negotiations with Twente that allowed us to reach an agreement. Marko Arnautovic has huge potential." Coach Thomas Schaaf, whose side will enter the UEFA Champions League play-offs next term, added: "Marko is a young and talented striker who already has invaluable experience. We are confident that he will improve the club as we help him to develop as a player."
