Spanish Cup winners Sevilla FC have completed the signing of central midfielder Tiberio Guarente from Atalanta BC on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old started his career at Atalanta but spent three seasons on loan at Hellas-Verona FC before returning to the Bergamo club in 2007. He made 92 Serie A appearances over the past three seasons for Atalanta, but despite catching the eye last term was unable to prevent them being relegated to Serie B.
Guarente, who played three matches for Italy at the 2008 Olympic Games, is a versatile midfielder who is strong in the tackle and creative on the ball. Sevilla enter the UEFA Champions League play-offs in August after finishing fourth in the Liga last season.
