APOEL FC set a new high in Cypriot football when they qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16, and their dream of a quarter-final place is far from impossible after they lost just 1-0 at Olympique Lyonnais in the first leg.

Brazilian striker Aílton, who joined the Nicosia-based club following spells with Örgryte IS and FC København, is still dizzy with the magnitude of his side's achievement, and told UEFA.com: "These are the best fans that I have ever played for, and also the best that I have encountered in any of the other countries where I have played. Nothing compares to the supporters here – the passion is much greater and the way they get behind the team is very good."
