It was a game of contrasts. We started well and were the better side early on. We created chances but even though we equalised in the second half, we have to learn to convert chances, especially when we play at home. Schalke had their opportunities and had a period of dominance. Their second goal completely deflated us and was the defining moment of the game.
Last season our defence had four experienced players. This season only
[Vassilis] Torossidis has Champions League experience. We have a problem defending set pieces and we conceded from one tonight. You can't blame an individual player though, it's a collective problem and this is something we are trying to improve.

In the first few minutes we had some problems, but if you look at the whole 90 minutes, we should have won by a bigger margin. We needed to stay calm, regardless of what happened in the match. You know it will be hectic a lot of the time, but my players did well.
We did make a few mistakes and didn't concentrate properly at times, but Olympiacos went for it towards the end and created a good chance just before the final whistle. However, I was angry with the build-up to their equaliser, because we basically helped them at times. We were careless in attack and defence, but when you win the first match you can be incredibly happy. It's a start, though there is a long way to go.
