FC Bayern München have confirmed the summer transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Sebastian Rode.

Rode has agreed a four-year deal running until summer 2018 after the expiry of his current contract. The 23-year-old joined Eintracht from local rivals OFC Kickers in 2010 and helped them to promotion in 2011/12 before reaching this season's UEFA Europa League round of 32, bowing out to FC Porto after two draws.

"I am very happy the transfer has worked out," said Rode, a former German youth and Under-21 international. "Bayern are the next big step for me. I want to continue my development here and win a lot of titles with my future team-mates."

Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer, whose club are assured of a UEFA Champions League berth next season after retaining the German title regardless of their semi-final result against Real Madrid CF, added: "Sebastian Rode is an excellent professional; he embodies a high degree of professionalism and dynamics. I am sure that he will add a lot of dash and pace to our team to manage the coming challenges."
