Speaking to UEFA.com ahead of his return to the Spanish capital with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, Ángel Di María has relived his penultimate game as a Real Madrid player – the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League final.
Di María was named man of the match in that Lisbon decider, inspiring Madrid to bounce back from the dead – they were trailing city rivals Atlético Madrid until the third minute of added time – and run out 4-1 winners in extra time. That marked their tenth European Cup, or 'La Décima'.
"It was an unforgettable moment," said the Argentina forward. "It was a dream come true; not only being chosen as the best player in the final, but also the fact we won the Champions League, something every player wants to achieve. It was a very, very emotional match – we were close to losing it but in the end we won. It was really crazy what happened. It is a very nice memory which will stay in my mind for the rest of my life."
