Liverpool, Porto, Sevilla and Shakhtar into last 16

Liverpool – Philippe Coutinho's hat-trick helping them to a 7-0 win – Porto, Sevilla and Shakhtar Donetsk were the final four teams to book their place in the round of 16 on Wednesday.

Liverpool 7-0 Spartak

Needing only a draw to qualify but three up inside 19 minutes, Liverpool ran out emphatic winners with the help of Philippe Countinho's hat-trick and a stunning acrobatic strike from Sadio Mané. They end the group stage with 23 goals, a tally only ever bettered by Paris Saint-Germain's record 25 this season.

Maribor 1-1 Sevilla

Nuno Tavares's tenth-minute effort had Maribor in front until well into the second half but Ganso found the net with 15 minutes left as Sevilla picked up the point they required to be certain of a knockout stage berth.

Group F

Highlights: Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Man. City

Shakhtar 2-1 Man. City

Already through but looking to become just the seventh team to win all six of their group stage games, the Premier League leaders were undone by strikes from Bernard and Ismaily. Sergio Agüero's late consolation came from the spot.

Feyenoord 2-1 Napoli

Napoli had to win to stand a chance and the portentswere good when Piotr Zieliński put them ahead only two minutes in. However, Nicolai Jørgensen and Jeremiah St. Juste – in added time – gave hitherto point-less Feyenoord the victory.

Group G

Highlights: Leipzig 1-2 Beşiktaş

Leipzig 1-2 Beşiktaş

In-form Álvaro Negredo converted from the spot before Naby Keïta drew the ten-man hosts level late on, only for Talisca to secure the group winners all three points in the last minute.

Porto 5-2 Monaco

Tasked with matching Leipzig's result in order to seal second place, Porto did not leave anything to chance courtesy of two goals from Vincent Aboubakar and one apiece from Yacine Brahimi, Alex Telles and Francisco Soares.

Group H

Highlights: Tottenham 3-0 APOEL

Tottenham 3-0 APOEL

Qualified since matchday four and group winners as of a fortnight ago, Spurs did not take their foot off the gas and raced to another victory thanks to strikes from Fernando Llorente, Heung-Min Son and Georges-Kévin N'Koudou.

Real Madrid 3-2 Dortmund

Cristiano Ronaldo rubber-stamped his position as top scorer by registering Madrid's second to take his tally to nine. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck either side of the interval for the visitors but Lucas Vázquez had the final word.
