Records are not important – the result is what matters. In the second half we played very well and I think we deserved the win. It does not matter to me how Arsenal played; we played well in the second half and I'm very happy about that.

I wasn't happy with the first half, because I don't think we showed enough courage. We played too passively, almost as if we were a bit scared, for about 35 minutes. I was happy with the organisation, though. We didn't play well, but we didn't concede and they had no chances – so I was happy with that. Our second-half performance was very satisfying.

We take it one game at a time – of course, it will be difficult again when Arsenal come to us. We have a chance, but we will have to be better than we were in the first half tonight. Arsenal remain favourites to win this group, especially when they have all their players back.

[Klaas-Jan] Huntelaar is very important to us. He is a team player, but he also scores goals on top of that. He worked very hard as a team player and I consider that most important. I took him off because he was so tired – he ran a lot tonight.

Steve Bould, Arsenal assistant manager
We haven't played anything like I know we can. We lack a bit of confidence. But it's a tough competition and they're a good side – they beat Dortmund at the weekend. We spoke at half-time about the problems we were having – and for a while it looked like we might get away with it.

We looked jaded, I don't know why that is. Since the international break we haven't looked ourselves. It's not what we want, it's not what we're accustomed to. We're used to creating lots of chances. Maybe we've lost momentum. We've gone behind in our last five games, so scoring first in the next game is important.

We still have nine points to play for: How we get those points it doesn't matter, but we'll perform better than we did tonight, that's for sure.
