Abelardo on the mend

Barcelona FC defender Abelardo has returned to full training after a serious knee injury.

Spanish international defender Abelardo Fernández returned to full training with his FC Barcelona team-mates this week as he continues his comeback from a serious knee injury.

Possible return
Abelardo, who underwent surgery on his right knee last March, came through a tough session on Monday and could even be back in the squad for Sunday’s Primera División game at home to Club Atlético Osasuna.

Treading carefully
The 31-year-old centre-back is determined to tread carefully on his way back to full fitness, though, and he insists he is not even considering a return to José Antonio Camacho's squad for the FIFA World Cup later this year.

Back in the rhythm
"I still haven’t given any thought to the World Cup," Abelardo said. "The only thing I’m concentrating on is Barcelona. I just want to get back and play for my club. I’ve got to get back into the rhythm of training and then see if the coach picks me."
