Inter put their perfect UEFA Champions League record on the line at Atlético de Madrid – the team that knocked them out of the competition two seasons ago.

Last match

Atleti and Inter have met three times, most recently in the 2023/24 round of 16 when the Spanish side won 3-2 on penalties. Inter won the first leg 1-0 at home before a 2-1 Atleti victory in Spain in which Antoine Griezmann scored their first goal to cancel out Federico Dimarco's opener.

Atleti were 2-0 winners against Inter in the 2010 UEFA Super Cup in Monaco.

The Madrid club have won eight of their last ten home matches against Italian visitors (D1 L1), although home and away that 2024 victory against Inter is one of only three in the last nine (D2 L4).

Inter's last games against Spanish opponents were a 7-6 aggregate victory against Barcelona in last season's semi-finals (3-3 a, 4-3 h aet), making it one defeat in their last eight matches against Liga clubs (W3 D4).

Runners-up in 2014 and 2016, both against Real Madrid, Diego Simeone's side lost to their neighbours on penalties in last season's round of 16 (1-2 a, 1-0 h, 2-4 pens). They had finished fifth in the league phase (W6 L2).

Inter 

This is the Nerazzurri's 19th appearance in the Champions League, and an eighth in succession.

Inter reached a second final in three seasons in 2024/25, but went down 0-5 against Paris Saint-Germain in Munich – the biggest final defeat in European Cup history.
