Berlin-born former Croatia captain Kovač took charge at Dortmund in January 2025, with his brother and former international team-mate Robert working as his assistant. Meet the teams

Key player: Serhou Guirassy

Born in Arles, France, the Guinean international forward has been a late bloomer as a striker, enjoying his first 30-goal campaign at Stuttgart in 2023/24, then going eight goals better with Dortmund the following season – when he finished as joint-top scorer in the Champions League with 13 strikes. The 30-year-old hit 22 in all competitions in 2025/26.

Champions League top scorer: All Guirassy's goals

Big summer signing: Konstantinos Karetsas

The 18-year-old playmaker needed less than nine minutes to make an impact on his Bundesliga debut for Dortmund, setting up Serhou Guirassy to open the scoring in a 2-0 defeat of Hamburg. Already an established Greek international, the expert dribbler was born in Belgium and announced his talents with Genk before his switch this summer, scoring two goals and providing four assists in last season's Europa League, along with a further 11 assists in the Belgian top flight.

Where to watch Dortmund's games

One to watch: Jobe Bellingham

Following in the footsteps of older brother Jude at Dortmund, Jobe carved out his own reputation as a dynamic midfielder in his first season. "I feel most comfortable in the middle of the pitch, where everything happens around me," Bellingham says of his all-action style. It shows in the stats too – only Ramy Bensebaini made more tackles for Dortmund in the 2025/26 Champions League.
