Genk dismiss Vandereycken

KRC Genk have parted with coach René Vandereycken despite qualification for Europe next season.

Cup place
The club opted to end the 51-year-old Vandereycken's employment despite his achievement in securing a UEFA Cup place for next season. The club finished fourth in Belgium and beat third-placed R. Standard de Liège in a two-leg play-off for the European spot.

Board differences
Despite success on the field, Vandereycken had disagreements with the board which led to the early termination of his contract. His deal had been due to run until June 2006, having first joined Genk from FC Twente last summer to succeed Sef Vergoossen.
