Final decision
Duchemin sustained the problem when he fell awkwardly in training in August 2007, twisting his ankle as well as hurting his heel. After failing to make a Ligue 1 appearance since then, he has decided to have surgery that will strengthen his ankle but restrict his mobility. His rehabilitation will take 12 months and he will be unable to play top-level football again.
'Not possible'
"I think we tried everything to recover but it was not possible," Duchemin said. "So I chose to try the operation, which will restrict my ankle but make my life easier." An Amiens SC product, Duchemin joined Nancy in June 2003 and represented them in 112 Ligue 1 and seven UEFA Cup matches, helping the club win the 2005/06 League Cup to qualify for what would be his only European campaign. Nancy begin their UEFA Cup Group H fixtures next Thursday at home to Feyenoord.
