Meet the Futsal EURO 2026 finalists

UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 runs from 21 January to 7 February in Riga, Kaunas and Ljubljana.

Initially, 12 of the 16 contenders were confirmed with two of the co-hosts, Latvia and Lithuania, joined by the ten qualifying main round group winners. The remaining four places were with eight best runners-up facing off in the play-offs, with Belgium, Georgia, Hungary and Italy making it through.

In all eight of the 16 contenders are different to those who competed in 2022, with three debutants. The final tournament draw was on 24 October at Žalgirio Arena, Kaunas, one of four match venues along with Arena Riga and Ljubljana's Arena Stožice and Tivoli Arena.

Group A

• France and Georgia met in the main round of qualifying. France won 5-2 at home and drew 3-3 away to top the group. By contrast, Gerogia beat France at home and drew away to pip them to the 2022 finals.
• France beat Croatia in the EURO 2018 play-offs and also home and away in the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifying elite round group stage.

Latvia

• Spain beat Slovenia 4-0 in the 2014 quarter-finals and 4-2 in the 2012 group stage. More recently Spain beat Slovenia 4-0 at home and drew 1-1 away in the 2024 World Cup qualifying elite round group stage and also home and away in Futsal EURO 2022 qualifying.
• Spain and Belgium drew 1-1 in the 2003 group stage, and Spain won 2-1 in the 1996 group stage. They have also met in two World Cups, Spain winning 2-1 in 1996 and 5-3 in 1992.
• Spain beat Belarus 9-1 in the 2010 group stage.

Slovenia

Group D

• Italy beat Hungary 5-0 in the 2005 group stage and 3-1 in the 1989 World Cup.
• Italy beat Portugal 4-3 in the 2014 semi-finals and 3-1 in the 2012 quarter-finals. They drew 0-0 in the 2007 group stage and 3-3 in the 1999 group stage, but Italy won 8-3 in the same round in 2005. They also met in two World Cups, Italy winning 4-3 in the 2012 quarter-finals and it was 0-0 in the 2004 second group stage.
• Portugal beat Hungary 5-3 in the 2005 group stage.
