Martin Andermatt has been named as the new coach of Swiss club FC Wil 1900.

Deal dependent on safety
The 41-year-old replaces interim coach Hanspeter Meier after signing a one-and-a-half year contract. The deal is dependent on Wil, who are safe this season in seventh place in the eight-team championship pool, preserving their Nationalliga A status next season. "The contract would be cancelled immediately if we do not stay in the top flight next season," said club president Roger Bigger.

First priority
Andermatt's first priority will be the Swiss Cup quarter-final tie against Neuchâtel Xamax FC this week. "We have a great possibility to reach the semi-finals and all is not lost in the championship," the new coach said.

Previous clubs
Andermatt, who won eleven caps for Switzerland, has previously coached Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Ulm in Germany and FC Winterthur and FC Baden in the Swiss lower divisions.
